Maandishi haya ni kwa Kiingereza pekee.
The first Mass at Mwavuli was said under a mango tree in 1961, for the families of the railway workers who had settled along the line. The tree is still in the compound, behind the catechists' room.
The church itself was built in stages between 1968 and 1974, which is why the roof changes pitch halfway down. St. Monica was chosen as patron by the women's group that raised most of the money for the roof — her feast, 27 August, is the parish feast day.
The parish boundary runs from the river in the north to the Kilima road in the south. Mlima and the settlements beyond it belong to St. Bernadette's.
